“Trust in the Lord with all your heart... in all your
ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” - Proverbs 3:5-6
Leadership often requires making decisions in the fog. We
face complex situations where every path seems perilous, and our own
understanding is simply insufficient. When we try to navigate by looking at our
circumstances, we become quickly disoriented by the shifting waves of public
opinion and changing trends.
Before the invention of modern GPS, sailors relied heavily
on celestial navigation. They oriented their ships not by looking at the
turbulent waters around them, but by fixing their gaze on the
stars—specifically, the True North. The North Star remains fixed while the
earth rotates. Spiritually, the Holy Spirit is our True North.
If you are feeling lost in your current season, stop looking
at the waves. Recalibrate your instruments.
- Competence:
Learning to read the navigational instruments of faith: prayer, scripture,
and empirical spiritual discernment.
- Character:
Cultivating the humility to admit when we are lost and the obedience to
change course.
- Commitment:
A resolute pledge to follow the Spirit’s leading, even when the final destination
is obscured.
- Consciousness:
Attaining a state of continuous, dynamic alignment with the Creator,
experiencing the peace of being guided safely home.
